"And anyone who welcomes one such child in My name, welcomes Me." Jesus Matthew 18:5

Our team, and your family

All of our supervisors are selected based on their credentials, special training, experience and love for children. You will find our staff to be non-judgemental as well as professional.

Never mistake our casual outward appearance for weakness. We are professionals, trained for defusing negative conversions. We are trained to monitor behaviors and interactions without intruding into a child’s time with their parent.

We accept the responsibility of protecting each child as our own.

Meet our team of superhero supervisors

Our team is built from highly trained professionals with deep experience in child welfare, trauma-informed practices, conflict resolution, reunification strategies, special-needs support, and high-risk supervision. Representing backgrounds in law enforcement, investigation, counseling, education, coaching, and crisis-family services, they bring calm leadership, clear communication, and a genuine commitment to children’s well-being. Together, they create a safe, structured, and compassionate environment where families in crisis receive steady support, guided parenting, and the tools needed to rebuild healthy connections.

“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11

Judy Bartlett  Founder & CEO

Judy Bartlett, Founder and CEO of For the Love of a Child, served as a Texas Foster Parent for 26 years, caring for 68 children—many medically fragile. She is certified in multiple parent-training programs, with Love and Logic as her specialty, and frequently speaks on parenting and special-needs care. With extensive training in child behavior, development, empathy, conflict resolution, and reunification strategies, Judy is a trusted resource for courts in Kaufman and surrounding counties and is often called as an expert witness in high-conflict cases. Judy credits her faith for the organization’s growth, often saying, “God had a vision, not me.” What she once imagined as supporting just a few families a month has grown into nearly 100 active cases today.

Mr. James

James is a full-time investigator with the Kaufman County Public Defender’s Office, interviewing witnesses, verifying facts, and serving as an officer of the court. A graduate of Abilene Christian University with a background in Human Communications, he has coached youth in Huntsville ISD and now works with children across Kaufman through church and community programs. Many kids affectionately call him “Uncle James.” He has three daughters and has been part of our team for 8 years. James is trained in special needs, reunification, and high-risk visits.

Mr. Max

Max joined our team in September 2023 after observing court cases involving our organization and wanting to support families firsthand. He serves as a Kaufman County Deputy Sheriff and courthouse Bailiff and is an active member of the Navy Reserves. Max assists with security during high-risk visits and supports regular visits whenever his schedule allows, balancing duty with family life.

Miss Lili

Lili joined us in September 2025 with over a decade of Child Welfare experience. She has created programs for families in crisis across multiple states and is trained to facilitate parenting-skills education. An Outdoor Adventure Specialist and conflict-resolution expert, she adapts quickly and keeps excellent records. Lili holds a degree in The Arts from Metropolitan State University of Colorado and hopes to open a parent-education and supervised-visitation facility.

Ms. Heather

Heather is a systems trainer at Intuit with degrees in accounting and graphic design and a background working with major hotels and private clients. A recognized trauma expert, she supports parents and excels as a reunification supervisor for both toddlers and teens. A Kaufman County native, she returned home after living in several places and joined our team in November 2023. Heather is a parent and grandparent and is trained for high-risk and reunification visits, completing ongoing education like all team members.

Ms. Toni

Toni, our second-longest-tenured supervisor, has been with us since 2019. A former foster and adoptive parent, she brings extensive training in child abuse and valuable insight into child and adult mental-health needs. Children naturally gravitate to her, and she helps parents build healthier interactions through hands-on play and modeling. Toni’s warm, open approach helps even hesitant children feel comfortable.

Mr. Oliver

Oliver is a full-time supervisor with a leading construction company and a coach for gymnastics, ninja, and cheer programs serving children from toddlers to junior high. He also leads a statewide special-needs cheer team. Since joining us in June 2025, he has brought steady leadership, strong communication skills, and an ability to respond calmly in challenging situations. Oliver is married with three supportive children. He serves as a high-risk supervisor and oversees special-needs programs.

Miss Angela

Angela brings energy, sharp observation, and meticulous documentation to our team. As a licensed drug counselor, she has deep experience supporting individuals in recovery and identifying signs of abuse in domestic-violence situations. She guides parents toward resources while maintaining a safe, reassuring environment during visits. A mother and grandmother, Angela has been with us since July 2024 and remains a trusted, attentive presence.

Our Misson

Our mission is to provide a safe, compassionate, and structured environment where children and parents can rebuild trust, strengthen relationships, and move toward healthy reunification. Through trauma-informed care, clear guidance, and supportive partnership with families, courts, and community professionals, we help create pathways to healing, stability, and lasting connection.
